Aquatic Therapy

PTSR offers aquatic physical therapy two times per week.  Pool therapy offers an excellent medium for rehabilitation.  Therapy is done in a safe environment, reducing the detrimental effects of gravity yet providing resistance for strengthening and endurance.

Pool therapy is done in cooperation with the Hastings Family YMCA.  Our hours in the pool are noon to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Pediatric Services - Hastings Public Schools

PTSR provides physical therapy services for Hastings Public School.  The purpose of physical therapy in the school system is to provide equal opportunities by promoting increasing independence while providing the least restrictive and most supportive environment.  The goal of physical therapy for preschool age children is to assist the child in gross motor development and mobility.  The PT may facilitate play and positions for play as well as help parents with the use of braces, equipment, and assistive devices as needed to improve the child's mobility.  Children eligible for services are between the ages of 0 and 21 and live within the Hastings Public School district.  Referrals may be made to the school district by concerned patients, family members, teachers, etc.  Parents will always have to sign a permission to test before any services take place.  Sessions may take place in the public elementary schools, middle school and high school as well as homes and daycares for younger children. A few conditions that may warrant PT services would be cerebral palsy, spina bifida, Down's Syndrome, prematurely, developmental delay and any other conditions affecting mobility or development.  Services are provided primarily by Brent Weston, PT, and Shelley German, LPN, MAT.

Athletic Event Coverage

Since our inception, PTSR therapists actively worked with our local teams for injury prevention and assistance.  We cover all football games and home volleyball, softball, basketball, wrestling, swimming, track and soccer games.  In addition, Hastings High is covered daily while Adams Central and St. Cecilia  are covered a minimum of 2 days each week after school.  These services are provided on a voluntary basis. To cover these schools, we work with our local physicians from Hastings Orthopedics', Central Nebraska Orthopedics and the Family Medical Center..  Coaches may refer injured athletes to PTSR during regular hours or on Saturday mornings for a free assessment.
